[ Echoes of Archs ]
The collaboration between Owelle and Structurals started in 2022 in the vaulted cellar of La Corne à Vin, during a live audiovisual performance created in response to La Bâtie festival’s call for projects. In 2023, the artists presented a 360-degree spatialized piece entitled “Perception Scaled” at the Mapping Festival. This project posed a significant technical and artistic challenge, allowing them to refine their mastery of the combined arts of sound and image, through rhythm and 3D spatialization. This experience confirmed a shared artistic direction for their work going forward.
In 2024, they unveiled their latest creation at the Mapping Festival: « Echoes of Archs, » which has since become the name of their collaborative project. Their intention was to craft a new piece that builds upon their previous experiences, emphasizing spatialized creation and their relationship to reality.
Echoes of Archs also performed at La Julienne in December 2023 and at Idéative in November 2023, where they explored a different format: a concert-oriented show, designed for a standing, moving audience.
Since its inception, the collective has persistently explored dystopian architectural motifs, seeking to immerse the audience in a meticulously crafted digital world, interwoven with tangible reality. Their artistic repertoire spans a wide range — from serene passages to intense crescendos — supported by spatial soundscapes that enhance the sense of disorientation within their environments. Oscillating between unsettling and captivating, their creations temporarily destabilize the audience, only to gradually guide them back to a reassuring connection with reality.
[ Owelle ]
Since 2019, Owelle has been performing across clubs and festivals in Switzerland (Gravière, Zoo, Motel Campo, Electron, Antigel, Paléo, Backslash), both as a DJ and live performer. She released two digital EPs on the Creaked label [Biel/Bienne], and her first vinyl record came out in November 2023 on DeeDee’s Picks [Amsterdam]. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Interaction from HEAD, she began experimenting with spatial sound, which she applied during the “Acousmonium Estival” residency at La Fonte in 2022. In 2021, she launched the short-lived project “The Attic,” a platform designed to spotlight local electronic music artists. Currently, she runs a live electronic jam residency at Canal54 [Geneva] alongside her collaborator e-Garbage.
[ Structurals ]
Structurals is a Geneva-based duo of new media artists, specializing in the creation of light installations, architectural video mapping, and live visuals presented in various clubs and festivals. They program their visuals using TouchDesigner, enabling them to generate evolving environments. They blend these virtual worlds with videos and 3D scans of reality, constantly pushing their techniques and exploring new possibilities.
In 2018, Structurals co-founded the FOLNUI collective, focused on light scenography in Geneva. They have created several installations for the Geneva Lux festival and collaborated on various projects with the Mapping Festival, while also regularly providing visuals for Nordstern in Basel.
