Echoes of Archs

[ Captures: Project Overview ]

Captures blurs the boundaries between art, technology, and perception. It’s an immersive experience built from generative elements and 3D captures of the environment, offering the audience a transformative journey through different spatial scales and dimensions. This live audio/visual sequence distorts the viewer’s perception of space and reconstructs new virtual landscapes, made of archives and recordings from familiar places.

[ Audiovisual ]

At the heart of Captures lies the connection between sound and visuals, generating entirely new spaces once they intertwine. The music, composed specifically for this performance and played live, guides the visual transformations, while the visuals, in turn, influence the auditory experience.
Sine waves and intricate soundscapes merge with evolving architectural forms, creating a symbiotic relationship that enhances the overall immersion.

[ Procedural Integration ]

Captures is in constant flux, evolving with each presentation and adapting to the spaces it inhabits. Each time, the artists capture new environments, recording the architectural and sonic details of the venue itself, crafting an immersive journey through a reimagined version of a familiar landscape.

[ Real-Time Processing ]

Every visual and sound element is processed in real-time, ensuring each performance is unique and responsive to the space. The spatialized sound and visuals wrap around the audience, creating the sensation of stepping into a parallel reality.
The whole performance is designed using a node-based system, allowing it to be reshaped live – played like an instrument that carries the audience into freshly constructed spaces built right before their eyes. A VR-exported version is also available.

[ Immersive Setups ]

The performance runs on a procedural system, making it adaptable to various screen setups, audio configurations, and VR systems. While conceived primarily for immersive environments, the project can also shift into a 2D projection with stereo sound, retaining its core aesthetic and concept.
